Jen Beaver (Chester Springs/Owen J. Roberts) and
Erin Holloway (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned PSAC Central player and pitcher of the week awards while helping the Crimson Hawks go 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play extending their win streak to 11 games.
Beaver set the table for IUP with a .615 on-base percentage scoring six runs and driving in five. She finished the week 4 for 9 with a pair of doubles including one in a 3-0 win over Mansfield after coming off the bench for an injured
Monica Iachini (Claysburg/Claysburg-Kimmel). Beaver scored five times in a doubleheader sweep of Mercyhurst finishing the day 3 of 6 from the plate with four RBIs.
Holloway earned pitcher of the week honors for the second time this season going 2-0 and picking up a save in the past week. In 14.2 innings of work Holloway had an ERA of 0.95 allowing just two runs on six hits, striking out 23 and walking four.
In the conference opener Holloway pitched seven shutout innings striking out 12 batters to help IUP to a 3-0 win over Mansfield. On Saturday she threw six innings and allowed just two runs on three hits, recorded nine strikeouts and just two walks. She also picked up her first save of the season in game two against the Lakers pitching 1.2 innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two.
