Anthony DiPasquale Named to PSAC Fall Top 10

LOCK HAVEN, PA – IUP senior football player Anthony DiPasquale (Pittsburgh/Pine-Richland) is a select recipient of the 2012 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Fall Top 10 Award, chosen by the conference's sports information directors and released on Tuesday morning.

The PSAC Top 10 Awards are designed to recognize student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in athletic competition.

DiPasquale has a 3.75 grade point average as a marketing graduate student at IUP. The 2012 PSAC Football Champion Scholar Athlete, he started all 14 games at center for the Crimson Hawks as they won the conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Super Region One championship.

Blocking for the nation's 10th-best running game and two 1,000-yard rushers in Harvie Tuck (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) (1,660 yards) and De'Antwan Williams (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge) (1,325 yards), DiPasquale was named second team All-PSAC West.

Also a 2012 Capital One Academic All-America®, he started 44 career games on the offensive line at IUP.

The other Fall 2012 award winners are Meghan Franz of California (Pa.), Kristyn Grunza of Mansfield, Hannah Heeter of Clarion, Mary Reilly of Gannon, Kara Styles of Slippery Rock, Robbie Bennett of Gannon, Bryce Shaffer of Bloomsburg, Anthony Vendemia of Mercyhurst, and Khriswayne Wallace of East Stroudsburg.

By virtue of his selection as a Fall Top 10 Award winner, DiPasquale is now eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award presented at the conclusion of the academic year to the conference's top female and male student-athlete.

To be a candidate for the PSAC Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials for their respective team. The fall sports eligible for consideration for the Fall Top 10 Awards are men's and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, football and men's and women's cross country.

DiPasquale becomes IUP's 40th recipient of the PSAC Top 10 Award, which began in the fall of 1997. Only four conference schools have had more student-athletes named to the list: Shippensburg with 49, Clarion and East Stroudsburg with 43 and Slippery Rock with 41.
