Tamika Taylor met NCAA provisional qualifying times in two events and was joined as a national qualifier by Brianna Liebold, Hopeton Bailey, Tristan Taylor and Nafee Harris at the Robert Morris Invitational held on Friday in Pittsburgh. Tamika Taylor provisionally qualified for nationals in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.01 in the prelims before winning the event in 7.23 in the finals. She also met the NCAA standard in the long jump with a winning performance of 5.68 meters. Liebold earned her NCAA spot in the triple jump, winning the event with a jump of 11.63 meters. She was also second to Taylor in the long jump (5.46 meters) and fourth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.68. Bailey, Tristan Taylor and Harris each bettered the qualifying time in the men's 55 meter dash. Bailey had a time of 6.33 while Taylor and Harris had matching times of 6.39. Bridget Connolly won the 3000 meters in 11:03.94, and Jhana Jones was second in both the 300 meters (44.70) and 500 meters (1:23.96). Other IUP women finishing second included Alyssa Taddie in the mile (5:28.28) and Ayanna LeBlanc in the shot put (11.77 meters). Liz Tepsic was third in the 55 meter hurdles (9.49) and fourth in the shot put (10.46 meters). She also joined Tamika Taylor, Liebold and Venessa Boyd in winning the women's 4 x 400 meter relay in 4:17.61. Yoann Godet tied for first in the men's high jump with a best mark of 1.93 meters. Second place finishes for the men were turned in by Cameron Morse in the 55 meter hurdles (8.10), Clint Keller in the mile (4:27.60), Matt Celestin in the long jump (6.56 meters) and Harris in the triple jump (13.61 meters). Celestin also tied teammate Brandon Ford for third in the triple jump (13.43 meters). The men's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Bailey, Harris, Morse and Tristan Taylor was second in 3:35.18. Both IUP teams are back in action Saturday at the Penn State National Meet in State College. |
