Brandon Ford took second place in the triple jump and four other IUP athletes finished in the top 10 at the Kent State Tune-Up, the final meet before the PSAC championships next weekend at Edinboro. Ford had a jump of 45 feet, 8 inches for his runner-up finish, just three inches shy of first. Four other men were in the top 10, including a fifth place showing for Kenneth Wallace-Whitfield in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.91. Hillary Mugun was ninth in the mile in 4:20.32 while Yoann Godet tied for 10th in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6 feet, 2 1/4 inches. Brianna Liebold was the top performer for the IUP women, taking fourth in the triple jump with a best mark of 37 feet, 5 inches. Liebold has already provisionally qualified for nationals in the event. Following the PSAC Meet, qualifying athletes will compete at the NCAA championships March 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M. |
