Complete Results and Team Scores IUP tied a school record by winning 10 event titles and set a school mark with nine different athletes posting first place finishes, highlighting the Crimson Hawk track and field team's performance at the PSAC outdoor championships which concluded Saturday at Millersville. Only the 1986 team matched this year's squad with 10 wins and had the previous record with seven athletes taking first place. Maddy Outman won twice and was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete and Most Outstanding Overall Athlete of the Meet. Outman was also the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Meet at the PSAC indoor championships in March. Both IUP teams finished in fourth place in the team standings. The women had 94.5 points, trailing only Slippery Rock (179), Shippensburg (162.5) and Lock Haven (116). The men had 79 points to edge out perennial power Slippery Rock by four points. Shippensburg won with 143.5 points, followed by East Stroudsburg with 137 and Lock Haven with 111. Outman added to her heptathlon title with a win in the 100 meter hurdles, lowering her school record and national qualifying time in the event for the second straight day with a time of 14.04. Brianna Liebold was victorious in the triple jump with a top mark of 38 feet, 9 ¾ inches. Tiffany Corle was the third IUP woman to claim a first place finish on the final day of the meet, edging teammate Nicole Shannon to win the javelin. Corle had a throw of 135-4 while Shannon threw 130-7. Kevin Raymond was one of four IUP men's champions Saturday, posting a new meet record and an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 400 meters with a mark of 46.80. Raymond was also third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.54. Ben Hatch won the 800 meters in 1:51.84 and lowered his national provisional qualifying time that he established in the prelims. Ceasar Westbrook met the provisional standard in the triple jump with a winning leap of 48-7 ¼ and Russell Langley bettered his national standing with a winning throw of 201-6 in the javelin. Outman and Liebold were joined by Tamika Taylor in taking three of the eight scoring positions in the women's 100 meters. Taylor, who won the long jump Friday, was fourth in 12.40 while Outman was fifth (12.43) and Liebold was seventh (12.58). Taylor, Outman, Liebold and Carlysha Towns were third in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.51. Stacie Stockard was sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 12:04.02. Also scoring for the IUP men were Tristan Taylor, who was seventh in the 100 meters in 11.99. Joining Westbrook in the top eight in the triple jump were Nafee Harris, who was seventh (45-11 ¼) and Matt Celestin, who finished eighth (45-4 ¼). Harris won the long jump competition Friday. The 4x100 meter relay team of Harris, Hatch, Celestin and Hopeton Bailey was second in 40.87. Declarations for the NCAA Division II national meet are due Monday and the final field will be announced on Tuesday. The meet will take place May 21-23 in San Angelo, Texas. |
