Brianna Liebold finished ninth in the triple jump, one spot shy of a spot on the All-American team, and Maddy Outman and Ben Hatch were not able to advance to the finals in their events on the second day of the NCAA track and field meet in San Angelo, Texas. Liebold had a best jump of 38 feet, 11 ½ inches to qualify for the finals in the event but came up 7 ¾ inches behind Sarah Bowling of Southwest Baptist for eighth place and All-America status. Outman did not qualify in the 100 meter hurdles, placing 10th in the prelims with a time of 14.22. Hatch's time of 1:53.22 was not fast enough to move on in the 800 meters. Outman also competed in the heptathlon but withdrew prior to the final event and did not place. The meet wraps up Saturday with IUP athletes competing in several events. Tiffany Corle and Russ Langley are entered in the javelin while Outman (400 meter hurdles) and Kevin Raymond (400 meters) will compete in event finals. Raymond will also team with Nafee Harris, Hopeton Bailey and Tristan Taylor in the finals of the 4x100 meter relay. Harris will be looking for his second All-America accolade of the meet after winning the national championship in the long jump Thursday. |
