Kate Rowe won both breaststroke events to help IUP defeat Shippensburg

Kate Rowe, Galit Regev, Jen Price, Melissa Kucharczuk and Casey Beck each won two events and the IUP women won a total of 10 events to lead the Crimson Hawks to a 141-116 win over Shippensburg in a dual meet Saturday at Memorial Field House.

The IUP men lost to the Red Raiders by a score of 149-105. Pawel Glowiak won two of the five individual events for the men, who also took first in the 200 freestyle relay. The women are 4-4 in dual meets this season while the men are 2-4.

Rowe won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.72) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.70); Regev won the 50 freestyle (25.82) and the 100 butterfly in (1:02.40); and Price captured the 500 freestyle (10:52.68) and 1000 freestyle (10:52.68).

Kucharczuk won the 100 freestyle (55.18) and 200 freestyle (1:58.12), and Beck took first in the 100 backstroke (1:01.92) and 200 backstroke (2:14.14).

Glowiak was the winner in the 100 backstroke (54.38) and 200 backstroke (1:58.26) and teamed with Robert Wilson, Jimmy Yelinek and Jeff Gavin in winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.98. Other winners were Jason Mohring in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.45), Dylan Mudlo in the 200 butterfly (2:02.25) and Walter Smith in the 400 individual medley (4:41.75).

IUP is back in the pool Saturday when it hosts Clarion at 1 p.m.
