Pawel Glowiak finished seventh in the 100 backstroke to gain All-America honors while the women's 800 freestyle relay team of Jen Price, Melissa Kucharczuk, Bethany Johnston and Brittany Watkins finished 12th at the NCAA Division II meet Saturday in Houston. Glowiak became a three-time All-American in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.37 in the finals. Earlier in the day he had a time of 49.34 in the prelims to break his own school record. Glowiak finished fifth in the event as a freshman in 2006 and eighth the following year. The senior from Gorzow, Poland, was also an All-American in the 100 butterfly with a sixth place finish a year ago when he was also on the honorable mention squad by placing 15th in the 200 backstroke. Glowiak won the 100 backstroke three times at the PSAC meet in his career. The 800 freestyle relay team had a time of 7:40.72 to set a new school record with each swimmer on the team achieving All-America distinction for the first time in their careers. Price also competed in the 500 freestyle but finished 17th in the prelims and missed a spot in the consolation finals by just .20. |
