Jackie Hynson recorded NCAA A cut times in the 200 butterfly and 100 backstroke and Ashley McAteer and Ally Long earned B cuts to lead the IUP swim team's performance on the opening day of the Zippy Invitational hosted by Akron University.

Hynson posted a time of 2:03.74 in a 200 fly time trial Friday morning to better the A cut standard by almost three seconds and break Rachel Slade's 11-year-old school record by .53 seconds.

In the evening session Hynson led off the 400 medley relay with a time of 57.78 in the 100 backstroke to earn her second A cut of the day.

McAteer qualified for the A finals in the 50 freestyle and finished seventh with a time of 23.90 while Long won her finals heat in the 500 freestyle in 5:09.67.

Kyle Ford and Dylan Mudlo were the top men's finishers Friday. Ford was 11th in the 500 freestyle in 4:43.92 while Mudlo placed 11th in the 200 individual medley in 1:58.22. The three-day Zippy Invitational continues through Sunday.
