IUP Men's and Women's Swim Teams Defeat Wheeling Jesuit

The men's and women's swim teams defeated Wheeling Jesuit Friday as the women bettered their record  to 8-1 with a 65-51 win and the men improved to 3-4 with a 98-60 win.

The women won every event in their sixth straight win as Casey Beck won the 100 backstroke (1:05.82) and the 400 IM (5:03.60) and Jen Price took the 200  freestyle (1:57.42) and 500 freestyle 5:17.97.

Other individual event winners were Heidi Mitskavich in the 1000 freestyle (11:07.53), Melissa Kucharczuk in the 50 freestyle (25.99) and Galit Regev in the 100 butterfly (1:01.86).

Abbey Doran took the 100 freestyle (55.32) and Kate Rowe won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.19).

Rowe joined Vanessa Iacobucci, Jordan Myers and Brittany Watkins to win the 400 medley relay (4:16.65), and Doran, Kucharczuk and Regev joined with Erin Barbetta to win the 400 freestyle relay (3:48.86).

For the men, Jeff Gavin won the 1000 freestyle (10:24.54) and the 400 IM (4:37.08), and Brad Smith won the 200 freestyle (1:50.72) and 100 freestyle (51.29).

Pawel Glowiak won the 100 butterfly (50.49), Chris Crooks won the 100 backstroke (58.88) and Eric Schepner won the 500 freestyle (5:11.88).

The 400 freestyle team of Josh Huger, Crooks, Glowiak and Smith won with a time of 3:22.50.

Both teams travel to Fairmont State Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
