The IUP men's swimming team needed a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay but a second place finish dropped the Crimson Hawks 137-125 Saturday at Shippensburg. It was the second defeat in as many events for the IUP men.

Dylan Mudlo won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.85, which was nearly four seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Dan Lumas defeated Derek Yeager by a mere .11 seconds in the 100 yard breaststroke and edged out Yeager in the 200 yard breaststroke to take the win.

Stephen Hoch, Jeremy Freedman and Luke Shaheen finished in the top three spots in the 100 yard butterfly for IUP. The Crimson Hawks entered the final event and needed a win but fell .61 seconds short.

The IUP women also lost to Shippensburg 133-123 and dropped to 4-3 on the season despite a strong showing from Ally Long. Long won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.33 and was the final leg of the winning 200 yard freestyle relay team with Lauren Alshouse, Erin Barbetta and Kala Misavage.

Jackie Hynson won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.22 followed by Misavage with a time of 2:19.92, while Ashley McAteer won the 100 yard freestyle and Alshouse finished third.

Both teams will be back in action Saturday with a dual meet at Clarion.
