IUP sophomore Jackie Hynson was chosen the PSAC Co-Swimmer of the Week after winning one event and earning three NCAA A cuts in a predominantly Division I field at the Zippy Invitational last weekend at the University of Akron. Hynson posted an A cut time of 2:03.36 in winning the 200 backstroke, besting Division I swimmers from Xavier (Ohio), Akron, Illinois State and Ohio University, and was fifth in the 100 butterfly with a B cut time of 57.96. She also met the A cut standard in the 200 butterfly, swimming a 2:03.74 in a Friday time trial to break Rachel Slade's school record that had stood since 1998, and the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.78 in the leadoff leg of the 400 medley relay. Hynson and the Crimson Hawk men's and women's swim teams return to action after the finals and holiday break when they compete in the Tampa Relays January 6 in Tampa, Fla. |
