Hillary Mugun turned in a fourth place finish in the Brown Division to lead the IUP men's cross country team's performance at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.

Mugun, a freshman from Nadi Hill, Kenya, had a time of 25:12 to best all but three of the 332 runners in the middle division of the 8k race. The meet was divided into Gold, Brown and White divisions based on a team's current ranking.

The Crimson Hawk men finished 18th of 41 teams in their division, which also included PSAC West schools Kutztown and Bloomsburg, which finished just ahead of IUP. Mugun's time would have placed him 138th overall out of almost 1,000 runners in the three divisions combined.

The other top five finishers for IUP included Josh Joson (75th, 26:21), Colt Mack (93rd, 26:30), Ben Havko (130th, 26:46) and Matt Rutt (140th, 26:49). In all, nine runners competed for the Crimson Hawks and eight established new personal bests.

The women competed in the White Division and were second out of 30 teams, beating out West Chester which had defeated the Crimson Hawks earlier in the season. Freshman Alyssa Taddie was the top IUP individual, finishing 15th out of 212 runners in the 6k race with a time of 23:19.

Taddie was followed by Bridget Connolly (26th, 23:46), Kelly Best (37th, 24:08), Julie Johnson (48th, 24:22) and Jane Looby (57th, 24:31).

Both IUP teams will compete again next Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
