Hillary Mugun finished in third place to earn All-PSAC honors and lead the IUP men's cross country team to a sixth place showing at the conference meet held Saturday at Edinboro. Mugun had a time of 26:33.6 for the 8k race and came in behind only a pair of runners from team champion Lock Haven. IUP was seeded eighth going into the meet and beat that rank by two spots. The Crimson Hawks totaled 175 points. Lock Haven had four runners in the top eight and had 39 points. The Bald Eagles were followed by Edinboro (53), Shippensburg (73), East Stroudsburg (121), Bloomsburg (164) and IUP. The Crimson Hawk women were 11th with 264 points. Shippensburg, Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock took the top three spots. Bridget Connolly was the top finishers for IUP in the 6k race, coming in 32nd in 24:20.6. Rounding out the top five runners behind Mugun for the IUP men were Josh Joson (38th, 28:08.1), Clint Keller (40th, 28:14.9), Ben Havko (44th, 28:23.3) and Colt Mack (50th, 28:41.1). The next four runners for the women were Alyssa Taddie (47th, 24:43.3), Kelly Best (49th, 24:46.8), Lauren Bauer (66th, 25:21.9) and Jane Looby (70th, 25:34.3). Both IUP teams will be back in action next Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Region meet hosted by Mansfield. |
