Four IUP runners earned spots on the NCAA All-East Region team but will not
be sending anyone to nationals for the first time since 1999.
Maureen Newell, Stacie Stockard and Erica Hoffman on the women's side and
Nate Shelly in the men's race all finished in the top 15 to merit all-region
honors.
In the team standings, the IUP women were fourth while the men finished
14th. The women had 110 points to trail Bloomsburg (62), Edinboro (81)
and Kutztown (87). The men had 331 points, with Edinboro taking the
team title with 47 points.
Newell was the top IUP women's runner, finishing 10th with a time of 22:09
on the 6K course at Lock Haven. She was followed by Stockard in 11th
place (22:10) and Hoffman in 15th (22:19).
Shelly had a time of 31:51 to place 12th in the 8K men's distance.
Also competing for the Crimson Hawk women were Laura Blaesser (22nd, 22:34),
Tatyana Maltseva (52nd, 23:24), Marissa Butler (59th, 23:35) and Bridget
Connolly (63rd, 23:37).
Chad Phares was 52nd for the men (33:31), followed by Ben Shinsky (69th,
33:52), Luke Snyder (84th, 34:26), Billy Moore (114th, 35:32), Ben Havko
(127th, 36:28) and Kyle Hills (132nd, 36:55).
