Bloomsburg pounded out 26 hits including three home runs in a 20-0 win in the first game and then held off an IUP rally for a 12-10 victory in the nightcap in a PSAC crossover sweep of the Crimson Hawks Saturday at Owen Dougherty Field.

IUP, playing its final home games of the season, dropped to 21-25 and saw its hopes for a .500 season come to an end while the Huskies improved to 16-28. The two teams will wrap up their seasons with another doubleheader Sunday in Bloomsburg.

Eight different Huskies had at least two hits in the first game, led by Kevin Ward who had five hits, a home run, scored four runs and drove in six. Ward was joined by Jarrod Kramer and Billy Phillips with home runs as Bloomsburg had its way against four IUP pitchers.

Meanwhile Grant Kernaghan was dominant on the mound, tossing a six-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and no walks. IUP had more than one base runner in only one inning, loading the bases with three singles in the sixth before Kernaghan struck out Roland Thiele and Ryan Mostyn to end the threat.

In the second game, Shane Melhorn blasted a three-run homer in the first to stake the Crimson Hawks to an early lead. But Bloomsburg battled back and with the game tied at 4 heading into the fourth, the Huskies erupted for six runs to build a 10-4 lead. Scott Kacelowicz had the big hit in the inning with a three-run homer.

Sean Foor hit a two-run homer in the fifth but the Huskies answered with two in the sixth and led 12-6. IUP took advantage of three walks when Lee Bainbridge doubled to left center to clear the bases and bring the Crimson Hawks within 12-9. But Mike Rossetti came in and set IUP down without any further damage.

Mark Woleslagle singled and Jamie Smith doubled with one out in the seventh to bring up the tie run. Paul Bingham reached on an error to make it 12-10 before Rossetti fanned Bainbridge and Melhorn to wrap up the Husky sweep.
