Game 1 boxscore and play-by-play Game 2 boxscore and play-by-play Corey Betz pitched a four-hit shutout and Lee Bainbridge hit a grand slam to lead IUP to a 5-0 win over Bloomsburg in the opening game of a PSAC crossover doubleheader Sunday. The Huskies bounced back with an 18-hit attack in a 14-1 victory in the nightcap. IUP wrapped up its season with a record of 22-26 and Bloomsburg finished at 17-29. Betz struck out seven and did not walk a batter in his seventh win of the season, the top mark on the Crimson Hawk pitching staff. He surrendered three hits in the first two innings but allowed only one runner to reach as far as second base over the final five frames. IUP broke a scoreless tie in the third. Jacob Shaffer singled and Jamie Smith and Jeff Lluberes were hit by pitches to load the bases with nobody out. Bainbridge followed with his grand slam and finished the season with team leads in both home runs with 11 and RBIs with 48. The Crimson Hawks tacked on another run in the sixth when Ryan Mostyn singled and scored on a double by Smith. The Huskies scored single runs in the first and third innings of the second game before exploding for 10 in the fourth. Matt Kline held IUP to five hits and struck out seven in a complete game. The Crimson Hawks avoided a shutout in the seventh on an RBI single by Andrew Welch. |
