IUP junior Darryl Webb has been selected the PSAC West Co-Player of the Week, marking the fourth time this season he has been honored by the conference including three times in the past four weeks. Webb shared the award with Clarion's Lloyd Harrison. Webb averaged 21.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in leading ninth-ranked IUP to road wins over Lock Haven and Gannon. He added three steals and two blocked shots, hitting 17 of 27 field goal attempts, including a pair of 3-pointers, and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. In a 77-53 win over the Bald Eagles on Wednesday, Webb had game highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds, blocked a shot and made a steal. He then had 20 points and 14 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in a 73-66 victory over the Golden Knights on Saturday. The two double-doubles give Webb 10 on the season and 30 in his career. He leads the PSAC and ranks 10th in the nation in rebounding with an average of 11.3 per game and also stands seventh in the conference in scoring at 17.6 and fifth in field goal percentage at .576. Webb also leads the Crimson Hawks with 24 steals and is second with 17 blocked shots. With Webb leading the way, IUP ranks second in the country in rebound margin, pulling down 42.0 boards per game to only 29.7 for its opponents, a differential of 12.3. Webb continued his climb up the IUP career record book last week. He currently stands 17th in school history in scoring with 1,126 points, fifth with 694 rebounds and second with 94 blocked shots. He is only 10 away from breaking Dave Knaub's school mark in the latter category. The wins over Lock Haven and Gannon leave IUP as the only undefeated team in the PSAC West with a 4-0 division record, and the Crimson Hawks are 15-1 overall heading into their home date with California on Wednesday at 7:30. |
