IUP freshman Darryl Webb has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Rookie of the Year and was joined by teammate Gerald Brooks on the all-conference second team.

Webb is the second IUP player to receive the PSAC West Rookie of the Year award in as many years after Brooks was selected last season by the conference head coaches.

Webb (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) led all PSAC first year players in scoring at 16.5 points per game and rebounding at 8.5 boards per game, ranking seventh and third in the league, respectively, in those two categories. He also placed ninth in the conference with an average of 1.14 blocked shot per outing.

His rebounding figure made him one of only two freshmen in the nation to rank in the top 75 in that department. Webb was also third on the team with 29 steals, 50 assists and 42 made 3-pointers. He was selected the PSAC West Rookie of the Week five times during the course of the season.

Webb led IUP in scoring in 14 of the team's 28 games, including nine games with 20 or more points, and paced the Crimson Hawks in rebounding on 18 occasions. He scored a season-high 26 in a win over Shippensburg and had a pair of 24-point performances. He matched his season best of 13 rebounds four times and had nine double-doubles on the year.

Brooks (Pittsburgh/Schenley) is making his second appearance on the All-PSAC West second team. After battling through a series of early season injuries, Brooks came on strong and finished the year with averages of 12.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was third on the team and 22nd in the PSAC in scoring.

Brooks was also fourth on the team with 22 made 3-pointers, 22 steals and 42 assists. He scored a career high 27 points against Edinboro, the most by any IUP player this season, and had at least 20 points in two other games, including a 21-point effort in the PSAC tournament game against the Fighting Scots.

Brooks led the Crimson Hawks in scoring in six of the team's 12 PSAC West games and had a double-double with 19 points and a season-high 13 rebounds in a win over Lock Haven.
