Dan Latorre scrambled 26 yards for a touchdown with 1:36 left in the fourth quarter to give Bloomsburg the lead to cap a 14-point rally in the final 4:53 as the Huskies posted a 41-35 victory at Redman Stadium. After taking the lead on the Latorre run, the Huskies stopped IUP on four plays after the Crimson Hawks reached the Bloomsburg 22, including a Stevie Draper sack of Andrew Krewatch on fourth down. IUP saw its four-game winning streak come to an end, and the Crimson Hawks finished their regular season with an 8-2 record. Bloomsburg won its final four games to finish 7-3. The Huskies have now won three in a row over IUP. The Crimson Hawks led 35-27 after scoring 21 unanswered points and were driving for an insurance score at the Bloomsburg 27 when Jesse Cooper intercepted a pass intended for Ken Witter and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown to bring the Huskies within 35-33. The two-point conversion play failed. After IUP went three and out on its next possession, Bloomsburg took over at its 24 and drove 76 yards on only five plays, including passes for 23 and 27 yards to Brahin Bilal, before the Latorre run gave the Huskies the lead. A two-point pass to Kyle Ream made it 41-35. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Bloomsburg and a 42-yard return by Akwasi Owusu-Ansah set IUP up at the Husky 34. A pass from Krewatch to Mychal Skinner gave the Crimson Hawks a first down at the 22, but three incompletions and the Draper sack ended the game. IUP trailed 17-14 at halftime and fell behind 27-14 midway through the third quarter before the Crimson Hawks scored three consecutive touchdowns. Kareem Dutrieuille scored from 15 yards out on a fourth down play, Krewatch hit Skinner on a 43-yard score and Krewatch found Pickens on a six-yard hookup, the latter with 7:56 remaining in the fourth quarter to give IUP a 35-27 lead before the Huskies rallied. Krewatch completed 23 of 33 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns, also hitting Skinner from 44 yards out in the first quarter. Krewatch added a 10-yard scoring run with 44 seconds left in the first half for the first rushing touchdown in his career. Krewatch became the 10th player in IUP history to reach the 4,000-yard plateau in career passing, finishing the game with 4,195. He also moved into a tie for sixth in career touchdown passes with 35. Ken Witter caught 10 passes for 91 yards, the first time an IUP receiver had double figures in receptions since Carmelo Ocasio had 10 against Saginaw Valley State in the 2001 playoffs. Dutrieuille led the Crimson Hawk ground game with 16 carries for 77 yards while Garrett Lestochi carried 11 times for 61 yards. Bloomsburg tailback Jamar Brittingham became the all-time leading rusher in PSAC history, carrying 27 times for 120 yards and passing Wesley Cates of California for the top spot in conference history. Brittingham finished his career with 5,689 yards and is 14th in Division II history. |
