Andrew Krewatch threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Mobley with 22 seconds remaining in regulation and a seven-yard scoring toss to Garrett Lestochi in the second overtime period to allow IUP to escape with a 23-16 victory over Slippery Rock and keep its NCAA playoff hopes alive.

The Crimson Hawks, ranked 19th in the American Football Coaches Association poll, improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC West. Slippery Rock dropped to 3-3 and 1-2 in the division. IUP remained perfect in seven overtime games, including three versus Slippery Rock, and has won nine of the past 10 meetings in the series.

After both teams missed field goals in the first overtime period, IUP went 25 yards in five plays, with the last two completions from Krewatch to Lestochi covering the final 13 yards. Slippery Rock converted a fourth and 10 on a 15-yard pass from backup quarterback Brad Galvan to Devin Goda, but on third and goal from the 10, Mark Jackson made a diving interception to preserve the win.

C.J. Bahr hit his third field goal of the game, a career-long 46-yarder with 1:36 remaining in the fourth quarter, to give Slippery Rock a 16-9 lead. Pat McDanel then took a short kickoff at the IUP 23 and returned it 21 yards to give the Crimson Hawks good field position as they began their final possession of regulation.

Four Krewatch completions covered 27 yards and a personal foul against Slippery Rock moved the ball to The Rock 14. On second down, Leo Wood made a catch and run for 12 yards, and Krewatch hit Mobley on the next play. Craig Burgess' extra point sent the game into overtime.

Slippery Rock held IUP's high-powered offense in check for most of the game, limiting the Crimson Hawks to Burgess field goals from 38, 23 and 22 yards until the final possession of regulation. The Rock scored on an eight-yard pass from Brandon Frohnapple to Jermale Cromerdie with 2:59 left in the first quarter and Bahr field goals from 33 and 35 yards out to build a 13-9 lead early in the fourth quarter.

IUP had opportunities to take the lead throughout the fourth quarter but turned the ball over on a fumble by Tobias Robinson at the Slippery Rock 40 with 7:42 left and Krewatch was intercepted by Ryan Webb at The Rock 46 with 4:40 remaining.

Slippery Rock then took 3:04 off the clock while driving 25 yards to set up the 46-yard field goal by Bahr that gave the visitors a seven-point lead before IUP staged its late comeback to force overtime.

IUP finished with 352 yards of total offense while Slippery Rock had 271. Krewatch completed 25 of 36 passes for 211 yards and extended his streak of consecutive games with at least two touchdown passes to 11. Ken Witter was the leading receiver with nine catches for 84 yards. Robinson carried 19 times for 79 yards, and Shane Brooks added 71 yards on 14 carries.

Frohnapple hit on 12 of 31 passes for 133 yards before leaving the game with a concussion. Damarcus Cleckley was the leading rusher with 73 yards on 17 carries before suffering a shoulder injury.

Andre Henderson hit double figures in tackles for the second straight game, following up his 18-tackle performance at California with 12 versus Slippery Rock. Jackson added a sack to go with his game-preserving interception. Terrence Jackson added 10 tackles for the Crimson Hawks.
