IUP sophomore quarterback Andrew Krewatch has been named the PSAC West Co-Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Crimson Hawks to a 34-31 win at Slippery Rock on Saturday night. He shared the award with Edinboro quarterback Trevor Harris.

Krewatch (Pittsburgh/North Allegheny) completed 27 of 39 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns. He connected on first quarter scoring passes of 16 yards to Ken Witter, 10 yards to Garrett Lestochi and 50 yards to Mychal Skinner to get IUP off to an early 21-7 lead.

After the Crimson Hawks stopped Slippery Rock on a fourth and inches play with 4:27 left in the game, Krewatch led a 46-yard drive that included a pair of third down conversion passes to set up Matt McNelis' 28-yard field goal on the final play of the game.

The 310 yards was the first 300-yard passing game for an IUP quarterback since Krewatch had 348 against California in the 2005 season finale. His 27 completions against Slippery Rock are tied for the fourth highest single game figure in school history.

For the season, Krewatch has completed 60 percent of his passes (72 of 120) for 1,058 yards and nine touchdowns. His average of 264.5 yards per game through the air is the top figure in the PSAC, and he is fifth in the conference in pass efficiency rating at 152.1.

In 14 career games, including all 10 as a starter as a true freshman in 2005, Krewatch has thrown for 2,772 yards and needs 228 more to become the 12th quarterback in IUP history to reach the 3,000-yard mark.

IUP is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2003 and hosts California on Saturday in a battle of undefeated teams. Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. and will be televised statewide on the SPORTSFever Television Network, including WIUP-TV in the Indiana County area.
