IUP junior quarterback Andrew Krewatch has been named the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Crimson Hawks to a 63-3 rout of Millersville Saturday. Krewatch (Pittsburgh/North Allegheny) completed 24 of 27 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns to lead a 634-yard offensive attack in IUP's second straight win over a PSAC East opponent to start the season. His 88.9 percent accuracy broke the previous IUP mark of 86.7 percent by Kevin Weidl vs. California in 2004. Krewatch had touchdown passes of 11 yards to Garrett Lestochi and Ken Witter in the first half to help stake the Crimson Hawks to a 35-0 lead at halftime. He connected on 18 of 20 passes for 257 yards over the opening 30 minutes and added a third touchdown pass with a six-yard hookup with Nate Morrow on IUP's opening drive of the third quarter. The three touchdown passes gives Krewatch three or more in six of his past eight games dating back to last season. A year ago he set school records for single-season passing yards (3,100), completions (237) and attempts (391) while throwing 29 touchdown passes, the second-highest total in school history. With his performance against the Marauders, Krewatch increased his career totals to 5,388 yards and 46 touchdowns with both marks ranking sixth in the IUP record book. Krewatch also stands fifth in completions with 398 and seventh in attempts with 716. His completion percentage of 55.6 is the seventh-highest figure in school history. IUP is 2-0 for the third straight season under head coach Lou Tepper and was ranked 13th in last week's American Football Coaches Association poll. The Crimson Hawks play their home and PSAC West opener Saturday at 4 p.m. against Lock Haven. |
