IUP sophomore tailback Tobias Robinson has been selected the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week, giving the Crimson Hawks the award in consecutive weeks. Andrew Krewatch was honored after the win at Millersville on September 13. Robinson (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) rushed for 175 yards on 18 carries, an average of 9.7 yards per attempt, and scored two touchdowns in a 45-7 victory over Lock Haven that kept IUP undefeated through its first three games of the season. Robinson, returning from a broken leg that sidelined him for the entire 2007 season, gave IUP a 7-0 lead in the first quarter with an 84-yard touchdown run, becoming the first player in school history to have two scoring runs of 80 or more yards in one season. He had an 85-yard run in the opener at C.W. Post. With the game tied at 7, Robinson capped a 56-yard drive on IUP's first possession of the third quarter with a two-yard touchdown run that gave the Crimson Hawks a lead they would continue to build on throughout the second half. The touchdown was Robinson's sixth of the season. Robinson entered the weekend ranked fifth in the nation in rushing and improved his season average to a PSAC-leading 151.3 yards per game. He also leads the conference with an average of 12.0 points per game and is third in all-purpose yards at 160.0 per contest. The win over the Bald Eagles in the PSAC West opener sets up Saturday's game at California in an early battle for control of the division race. The Vulcans and Crimson Hawks were picked to finish 1-2 in the PSAC West in the preseason coach's poll. |
