IUP freshman Leo Acklin has been named the
PSAC Golfer of the Week after earning medalist honors at the Vulcan
Invitational hosted by California over the weekend.
Acklin,
from Falmouth, England, carded rounds of 71 and 73 for a two-over par score
of 144 to edge teammate Ryan Kennedy by one stroke. His consistent play
resulted in only three players posting lower scores on Saturday and just two
besting his total on Sunday.
The title was the first of Acklin’s career.
His previous best finish was at tie for 25th at the Guy W. Kuhn
Invitational two weeks ago. In four tournaments so far this fall, Acklin
has a stroke average of 76, with his 71 on Saturday at California his best
of the season.
IUP is off this week before competing in the
PSAC tournament October 20-21 at the Wrendale Golf Club in Hummelstown.
