IUP sophomore Brad Boyle has been named the PSAC Golfer of the Week after taking medalist honors and leading the Crimson Hawks to the team title at the Mercyhurst Invitational last weekend in Erie.

Boyle, from Kingston, Ontario, shot rounds of 73 and 69 to finish at 2-under par 142 to edge the field by one stroke. His second day score of 69 was the second best round of the tournament. The team championship was the fourth in five tournaments for IUP during the fall season.

In addition to his win at Mercyhurst, Boyle tied for fourth at both the Hal Hansen Invitational hosted by Clarion and California's Vulcan Invitational. At the Hal Hansen, he shot a 1-under par 143 including a 68 in the second round.

Boyle also finished tied for 13th in a field of 93 golfers at the Division II Preview Tournament held at the same suburban Indianapolis course that nationals will take place in May. That tournament featured high-ranked Division II teams and players from around the nation.

For the season, Boyle has a stroke average of 74.6 while playing in all five tournaments. With Boyle helping to lead the way, the Crimson Hawks won four times and are seeking their third straight PSAC title this weekend in Hershey.
