Laura Paanakker recorded her first game-winning goal of the season to give the Crimson Hawks a 1-0 field hockey victory over PSAC West opponent Mansfield Wednesday at Spaulding Field. The Paanakker goal came less than one minute into overtime action for IUP. The Crimson Hawks improved to 4-6 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC West. Earlier this season IUP claimed its first win of the year against Mansfield in a 3-0 shutout. Mansfield outshot the Crimson Hawks 12-8 and took 12 penalty corners to five for IUP, but was unable to record a goal. Caroline van Tulder assisted the Paanakker goal. Renee Lustenhouwer posted five saves to record her third shutout of the season for IUP. Jamie Twist posted three saves for Mansfield. The Crimson Hawks will return to action Saturday when C.W. Post visits Miller Stadium for a 9:00 a.m. matchup. |
