Jenna Humphreys scored two goals and added an assist as IUP rolled past host Slippery Rock 4-0 and moved to within one win of clinching a berth in the PSAC playoffs. The Crimson Hawks improved to 5-7 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC West and can secure a spot in the playoffs with a win over second-ranked Shippensburg at home Saturday. The Raiders defeated IUP 1-0 in overtime three weeks and are 16-1 on the season. Shannon Sullivan and Anouk Sickman had one goal apiece and Laura Paanakker and Jenn Metzler contributed assists in the win over Slippery Rock. IUP held a 14-1 advantage in shots and 11-2 in penalty corners in completing the sweep of the season series. The Crimson Hawks scored the only goal they would need when Humphreys stole a pass and beat Slippery Rock goalie Lisa Belcastro with just 5:56 gone in the first half. Sullivan scored her sixth goal of the year and Sickman added her third as IUP built a 3-0 halftime lead. Humphreys added her second goal of the game and third of the season with 6:35 remaining to round out the scoring. Renee Lustenhouwer had the shutout for IUP, stopping the only Slippery Rock shot. Belcastro had five saves for The Rock. The IUP-Shippensburg game at Miller Stadium Saturday gets under way at 1 p.m. |
