IUP wrapped up its 2008 regular season with a 2-1 win at Mansfield, giving the Crimson Hawks 14 victories in 15 games and the No. 1 seed in the PSAC West entering next week's conference tournament.

IUP won the PSAC West title with a 7-1 division record and will face Kutztown in the first PSAC semifinal game Friday at Bloomsburg beginning at noon. IUP defeated the Golden Bears 2-0 at Kutztown two weeks ago.

The host Huskies will take on Shippensburg in the second semifinal game, with the winners meeting Saturday at 1 p.m. for the conference championship. The Crimson Hawks are seeking their second straight PSAC title.

After a scoreless first half versus Mansfield, IUP got on the board first when freshman Marissa Soto scored her first college goal, assisted by Brittany Owens on a penalty corner, with 2:15 expired in the second half.

The Mounties (7-12, 3-5 PSAC West) tied it with 5:49 remaining when Brittany Kostishion put a penalty stroke in the cage, but Owens scored her team-leading 15th goal of the season on a rebound just 48 seconds later to put the Crimson Hawks ahead to stay. Owens also leads IUP in assists with 12 and points with 42.

IUP held a narrow 17-15 edge in shots and took 10 penalty corners to five for Mansfield. Lydia Dolly, who had faced only 42 shots in the first 14 games of the season, had one of her busiest days of the year with 10 saves. Brianne DeLuca made eight saves for the Mounties.

On the season, the Crimson Hawks scored 48 goals and allowed only six while posting 10 shutouts.
