IUP was denied its second consecutive PSAC field hockey championship with a 5-0 loss to host Bloomsburg in the conference title game Saturday afternoon.

Despite the defeat, the Crimson Hawks will likely be selected to host an NCAA Division II opening round playoff game next week at Miller Stadium. The six teams and host sites will be announced on Monday.

Bloomsburg, which won its 15th conference championship in school history, is expected to host the NCAA Final Four the weekend of November 14-16. The Huskies won their 22nd game of the season against only one loss while IUP fell to 15-2 on the year.

Prior to the five goals scored by Bloomsburg, the Crimson Hawks had allowed only seven through the first 16 games of the season.

Ashley Miller scored the only goal the Huskies would need with just 2:47 into the game. Jamie Vanartsdalen, the leading scorer in the nation, made it 2-0 at halftime. Maggey Bloskey, Breanne Tobin and Whitney Miller each scored second half goals as Bloomsburg pulled away.

The Huskies held IUP to just three shots while firing 13 at Crimson Hawk goalkeeper Lydia Dolly, who made five saves. Allison Ziants had two saves for Bloomsburg.
