IUP concluded its two-game trip to Massachusetts on Tuesday with a 2-1 loss to second-ranked UMass-Lowell.

The Crimson Hawks (1-1) split their opening two games of the season on the road after blanking Bentley, 4-0, on Monday.  IUP entered the game ranked fifth in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, and UMass-Lowell is ranked second.

Jaci Moulton scored goals in both halves, including one with 3:06 expired after intermission that gave UMass-Lowell a 2-0 lead.  IUP cut its deficit in half when freshman Barbara Heemelaar scored her first career goal off an assist from Liz Martini with 15:09 left in the game.

The Crimson Hawks had a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, but a penalty corner shot by Liz Marosky was saved by Danielle Dodier with seven seconds left to preserve the win for RiverHawks.

IUP finished with nine shots and UMass-Lowell had seven.  Lydia Dolly made three saves for the Crimson Hawks and Dodier stopped five shots for the RiverHawks.

IUP plays its home opener on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against Merrimack at Miller Stadium.
