IUP won its third straight game and first of the year in the PSAC West, rallying from a two-goal halftime deficit to post a 16-12 victory Wednesday at Slippery Rock.

The Crimson Hawks are 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC West and The Rock is 2-8 and 0-5 in the division.

Amanda Fetter and Alex Slinkard both scored twice as part of a 6-0 IUP surge at the outset of the second half that wiped out an 8-6 Slippery Rock lead. Fetter scored a team-high four goals, all after halftime, to spark the Crimson Hawk comeback.

Stephanie Bianco and Becca Vogt had three goals each and Corinne Miller joined Slinkard with a pair of goals. Sarah DeMaio and Beth Glasshagel rounded out the IUP scoring and Slinkard had two of the team's five assists.

Miller got the second half rally started when she scored 5:33 into the second half. Fetter followed with her first two goals of the game to give IUP the lead with 21 minutes remaining and Slinkard recorded back-to-back goals to boost the advantage to 11-8.

Bianco capped the explosion over the opening 14 minutes of the second half while the IUP defense held The Rock off the scoreboard for the first 13:36 of the period before Brandi Otting scored for Slippery Rock to end the run with 16:24 left in the game.

Neither team scored for the next eight minutes before Fetter and Miller scored 1:19 apart, the latter making it 14-9 with 6:49 remaining. Slippery Rock scored three goals and IUP had two in the final 2:58.

Katie Lee went the distance in goal for the Crimson Hawks and made 11 saves. Ashley Winkelspecht had 13 saves for The Rock.

IUP begins its second trip through the PSAC West with a matchup with Gannon Tuesday in Erie.
