Stats

For nearly two-thirds of the game, IUP was in position to post the biggest win in school history before Lock Haven scored 10 of the final 12 goals of the game to rally for a 20-14 victory over the Crimson Hawks Thursday at Miller Stadium.

IUP saw its three-game winning streak end and its record drop to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC West. Lock Haven, ranked sixth in the nation, is 11-2 and 5-1 in the division. The Bald Eagles defeated the Crimson Hawks 19-1 in the season opener last month.

Amanda Fetter led IUP with five goals followed by Corinne Miller with three, Alex Slinkard and Stephanie Bianco with two and one each for Jessica Beck and Sarah DeMaio.

Katie Lee helped IUP rally from an early 4-0 deficit by holding the powerful Lock Haven offense to only three goals over the final 17 minutes of the first half. Lee finished with 21 saves while facing a total of 47 Lock Haven shots.

Fetter scored three goals over the opening 30 minutes, including two late in the period that put the Crimson Hawks in front 7-6. It was 7-7 at halftime and Lock Haven scored the first goal of the second half before Beck, Bianco and Fetter scored consecutive goals to give IUP a 10-8 lead.

The teams traded the next four goals and IUP remained ahead 12-10 after a goal by Miller with 21:46 remaining in the game. But Kaleigh Johnson scored twice to trigger a 5-0 Lock Haven run that put the Bald Eagles in front to stay.

Johnson led Lock Haven with six goals and Leigh Titus and Jaimie Uzialko had five each.

Fetter ended the Bald Eagle surge to make it 15-13 but IUP could not get any closer the rest of the way.

The Crimson Hawks return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Shippensburg.
