Allison Keller led IUP past Mercyhurst with a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the PSAC playoffs Tuesday at South Campus Field. The Crimson Hawks improved to 13-5-1 on the season and advanced to face West Chester Friday in the semifinals at 11:00 a.m. West Chester, the top seed in the Western Division, will host the semifinals and the conference championship as they defeated Bloomsburg 3-0 in the quarterfinals. In other quarterfinal action California downed Gannon 2-0, while Kutztown defeated East Stroudsburg 4-1. California will face Kutztown in the Semifinals Friday at 1:30 p.m. The winners of the semifinals will play in the conference championship Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Crimson Hawks avenged last season's conference championship loss to Mercyhurst with the win and will seek a third conference title, having also won in 1995 and 2004. Mercyhurst held the edge in shots 13-12, but IUP had seven corner kicks to the Lakers two. Keller recorded her third goal of the season at the 22:36 minute mark with the assist from Kim Kowalski. Kelly Brennan made 10 saves for IUP, while Rachel Griepsma had only two saves for the Lakers. |
