IUP sophomore Sarah Romasco has been named the PSAC West Player of the Week for women's soccer after leading the Crimson Hawks to key division wins over Edinboro and Slippery Rock. Romasco scored three goals and had an assist during the week that did not include Monday's 4-3 victory over Stonehill. She scored IUP's first goal in a 3-2 double overtime win at Edinboro on Monday while assisting on the game winner. Romasco then posted the first goal of the game which proved to be the only one the Crimson Hawks needed in a 2-0 win over nationally ranked Slippery Rock on Wednesday. She added a third goal in a 3-2 loss to Kutztown on Saturday. Including her fourth career hat trick with three goals to go along with one assist against Stonehill, Romasco has 14 goals and eight assists for 36 points on the season, leading IUP in all three categories. In only 36 games over the past two years, Romasco has already moved into third place on the IUP career scoring list with 91 points and stands fourth in goals with 35 and fifth with 21 assists. IUP is 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC West and is currently in third place in the conference, five points behind Edinboro. The Crimson Hawks have played two fewer games than Edinboro and can still finish in second place and earn a first round home game in the PSAC playoffs by sweeping Lock Haven, Clarion and California in their final three division contests. |
