Alyssa Jacobs scored
with 14:50 left in the first half and host Clarion made the lead hold up
as the Golden Eagles stunned IUP 1-0 in a PSAC West soccer contest
Wednesday night.
The loss means the
Crimson Hawks will finish third in the PSAC West and have to travel to
Edinboro for the first round of the conference playoffs next Tuesday.
IUP (11-7, 5-4 PSAC West) concludes its regular season at California on
Saturday.
IUP had won all nine of
its previous games against the Golden Eagles by a combined score of
47-7, including an 11-0 victory earlier this season.
Kelsey Dowling of IUP
and Jess Reed of Clarion (4-10-3, 3-6-1 PSAC West) both had seven saves.
Both teams finished with 12 shots.
