IUP sophomore midfielder Heather Robbins has been named to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region women's soccer team for the 2009 season. Robbins started all 23 games and led the Crimson Hawks with 13 goals and 30 points while adding four assists. She ranked third in the PSAC in goals and points as well as game-winning goals with five. Robbins had three two-goal games, including one versus Mercyhurst in the regular season finale that clinched a home game in the opening round of the conference playoffs for IUP. In only two college seasons, Robbins already ranks seventh in school history with 27 goals scored and eighth with 60 points, a total that includes six assists. She has started all 46 games since coming to IUP. Her 14 goals as a freshman in 2008 are tied for eighth on the IUP season list and her 13 goals this year are tied for 10th. She scored 30 points both seasons, the 10th-highest figure in school history. IUP finished the 2009 season with a record of 14-7-2 and defeated Gannon and West Chester to advance to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in the 16-year history of the program. |
