Erin Holloway recorded her third shutout of the season as IUP swept Lake Erie Tuesday at Slattery Field in Painesville, Ohio. In the first game the Crimson Hawks rolled to the 3-0 victory and in the nightcap posted a 9-1 win to complete the sweep and improved to 11-1 on the year.

In the first game the Crimson Hawks and the Storm played seven scoreless innings, but a three-run eighth inning propelled IUP to the win. Monica Iachini singled up the middle to score Michelle Bivona, which got IUP on the board. Kelsey Ferguson reached on an error to score Iachini followed by Kristen Tunno's base hit to drive in Megan McCormick.

Holloway added to her perfect 6-0 record and gave up only two hits with 15 strikeouts. She has an earned run average of 1.07, 80 strikeouts and has held opponents to a .141 batting average on the season. Iachini and Tunno led the Crimson Hawks with two hits and an RBI, while McCormick chipped in with two hits.

In the nightcap, IUP scored in all five innings in the abbreviated game. The Crimson Hawks started fast with three runs in the top of the first inning when Ferguson singled down the right field line to score Iachini and Marissa Leslie. Tunno followed with a triple to right center and drove in Ferguson 3-0.

In the second inning Leslie stole home to drive the IUP lead to four and in the third inning Ashley Arentz drove in two more runs with a single into left field. The Crimson Hawks added a run in the fourth when Dee Eppinger singled home Iachini, but the Storm answered with a run in the bottom of the inning 7-1.

Stefanie Poates hit her first, and team third, home run of the season in the fifth inning, which brought home Tunno and Arentz. Bivona pitched a complete five innings and gave up one run on only five hits with six strikeouts. She is now 3-1 on the season.

Iachini led IUP with three hits, while Arentz had two hits and two RBIs. Tunno had two hits and one RBI followed by Eppinger, McCormick, Ferguson, Poates and Brittany Allman with one hit.

IUP will be back on the field in the Salem Tournament with is first action Friday at 11:00 a.m. against West Liberty followed by Alderson-Broaddus at 3:00 p.m. in Salem, Virginia.
