Erin Holloway pitched seven no-hit innings in earning a win and a save and Alex Daughenbaugh went 4-for-4 and drove in five runs in the first game to lead IUP to a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader versus Lake Erie Tuesday at Podbielski Field.

Holloway struck out 11 in a five-inning perfect game in a 12-0 victory in the first game. In the second game, she came in to relieve starter Jenny Shaffer to start the sixth and did not give up a hit, walked one and struck out five to protect a 6-4 win.

IUP has won five in a row and is 9-4 on the season while Lake Erie dropped to 2-13. Daughenbaugh led a 17-hit attack in the first game with two singles and two doubles and a career-high five RBIs. Marissa Leslie and Jamie Palmerio both had three hits and Palmerio scored three times.

After a scoreless first inning, the Crimson Hawks exploded for six two-out runs in the second. Daughenbaugh doubled in two runs and Leslie and Kristen Tunno had RBIs before Sam Goettman capped the uprising with a two-run opposite field homer to right.

The homer was Goettman's seventh of the year and she is already within two of Jodie Swavely's single-season school record set in 2006. Goettman's 15 career home runs ties her with Lauren Lyle for fifth on the all-time career chart.

Kelsey Kerrigan had an RBI double and Daughenbaugh knocked in two more with a two-base hit in the third, and Daughenbaugh capped her big game with another double that brought across IUP's final run of the game in the fourth before the game was called due to the eight-run rule.

IUP fell behind 1-0 after the top of the first in the second game before scoring four times in its half of the inning. Michelle Bivona gave the Crimson Hawks the lead with a two-run double and two-base hits by Brittany Allman and Jessie James made it 4-1 after one.

IUP took advantage of two Lake Erie errors and a double by Tunno to score twice more in the second. The Storm got a two-run homer from Megan Foley in the third and another run in the fourth to pull within 6-4.

Shaffer struck out three and walked one in her five innings in the circle before giving way to Holloway in the sixth.

IUP returns to action this weekend with five games at the Salem (Va.) Invitational beginning with games versus West Liberty State and Glenville State on Friday.
