IUP shortstop Marissa Leslie has been named the PSAC Central Freshman of the Year and was joined on the all-conference team by four Crimson Hawk teammates.

Senior outfielder Alex Daughenbaugh and freshman first baseman Megan McCormick were chosen for the first team. Leslie, junior catcher Sam Goettman and sophomore pitcher Erin Holloway were on the second team. Leslie is the third IUP player in the past six years to earn PSAC Freshman of the Year honors, following Becky Lewis in 2004 and Holloway last season.

Leslie started all 38 games and batted .352 (44-for-125), the third highest average on the team. She also tied for the team lead in stolen bases with six without being caught and was second with 22 runs scored. Leslie added two doubles and two triples and drove in 10 runs.

Daughenbaugh had team-leading totals of 50 hits and 138 at bats and her .362 batting average was second on the Crimson Hawks and 20th in the PSAC. She also led IUP with 11 doubles and 27 runs scored and had a triple, two home runs and 16 RBIs.

Daughenbaugh is in the top 10 in school history in seven offensive categories. She stands third in hits (173) and doubles (33), fifth in at bats (507), sixth in batting average (.341), seventh in stolen bases (21), eighth in total bases (226) and ninth in runs scored (73).

McCormick joined Leslie as one of the top first-year players in the PSAC this year. She batted .271 (19-for-70) with five doubles, a triple, five home runs and 22 RBIs. She made only two errors in 102 chances for a fielding percentage of .980.

In the second game of a crucial PSAC Central doubleheader at Mansfield, McCormick kept IUP's hopes for a conference playoff berth alive when she slammed two homers and drove in seven runs in a 10-inning, 16-12 victory over the Mountaineers.

Goettman is on the all-conference for the third time in as many seasons. She led the team and tied for 10th in the PSAC with eight home runs while also pacing the squad with 25 RBIs. She added eight doubles, batted .311 and made only one error in 227 chances behind the plate.

Goettman, a two-time PSAC Central Player of the Week this season, is tied for fourth in school history with 16 career home runs. She is also tied for sixth in walks (37), ninth in RBIs (67) and 10th in slugging percentage (.462).

Holloway is a two-time all-conference selection after winning 10 games including five shutouts this season. She struck out 166 batters, the third highest total in the PSAC, ranked sixth in the conference with 150 1/3 innings pitched and seventh with an opponent's batting average of .213.

One of the top strikeout pitchers in the PSAC, Holloway has fanned 432 batters to rank third in school history. She set an IUP single season record a year ago with 208 strikeouts in only 154 innings.
