Chloe Pike won three singles matches and the doubles team of Pike and Emilia Osborne took both of their matches to advance to the semifinals of the PSAC individual tournament Saturday in Shippensburg. Pike did not lose a set in any of her matches, including a 6-3, 7-5 victory over No. 3 seed Rohini Das in the quarterfinals. Earlier in the day, Pike blanked Ali Horvath of Shippensburg, 6-0, 6-0 and easily handled Becca Haener of Mercyhurst, 6-2, 6-1. Pike will play No. 2 seed Axelle Fernandez in the semifinals Saturday morning and will team with Osborne to play Kim Ezzo and Meghan Raynor of Mercyhurst in the doubles semifinals. Pike and Osborne advanced with wins over Das and Ridhima Borooah of Kutztown 8-3 and Laura Handy and Dunja Drmac of Slippery Rock 8-5. Katie Eaton also competed in the 32-woman singles draw. She defeated Brittany Counts of West Chester 6-2, 6-1 and Drmac 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 before dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to California's Anastassiya Zherdeva. |
