The IUP doubles team of Alyssa and Emily Shubra won their first round match before losing in the second round and both players suffered an opening round singles defeat at the PSAC individual tennis championships Saturday at Bloomsburg. The Shubra sisters downed Vernae Coleman and Andrea Thomas of Cheyney 8-0 before losing to Samantha and Kayla Blackburn of Slipery Rock, also by a score of 8-0. In singles, Emily Shubra lost to Barbara Joerns of Kutztown 6-2, 6-0, while Alyssa Shubra fell to Katie D'Ambrosia of East Stroudsburg 6-1, 6-1. The entire IUP tennis team is back in action Tuesday at home versus Westminster at 2:30. |
