IUP concluded its fall season with its fifth win in as many dual matches, sweeping Westminster 9-0 Tuesday in New Wilmington. The Crimson Hawks won all but one singles set and lost no more than three doubles games in defeating the Titans, who entered with a record of 11-1. IUP won in straight sets at the first five singles spots, and Alex Ballard rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory over Jane Larson at No. 6. Chloe Pike and Katie Eaton dominated at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, with Pike defeating April Scudere 6-2, 6-0, and Eaton winning over Hilary Newman without dropping a game. Emilia Osborne was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Alex Bailey at No. 3 singles, followed by Alyssa Shubra's win over Rachel Jack 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 and Kelly McBryan's 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dana Griesmer. In the doubles matches, Eaton and Osborne defeated Scudere and Bailey 8-1, Pike and Shubra downed Newman and Jack 8-3, and Ballard and Emily Shubra were an 8-3 winner over Larson and Lauren Latinovich. IUP resumes its season in February, with the spring season included the PSAC and NCAA team tournaments. |
