IUP rallied in the second set but Clarion answered with two wins to take a 3-1 victory Saturday at Memorial Field House. The Crimson Hawks fell to 16-14 on the season and 8-8 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles advanced to 24-6 overall and 14-2 in the PSAC. In the first set Clarion posted six unanswered points to take a 25-12 win. In the second set IUP started with back-to-back kills by Laura McFadden and rolled to a 25-21 victory. In the third set IUP pulled to within a point of Clarion but a Rebecca Webb kill downed the Crimson Hawks 25-23. In the extended fourth set IUP took a one point lead, but Clarion responded with three unanswered points to take a 27-25 decision. The Crimson Hawks were led by Emily Pany with a season high 46 digs, which gives her a total of 643 digs on the year and a .585 digs per set average. Jessica Bodkin had a team high 13 kills, 10 digs and five blocks, while McFadden recorded eight kills and 11 digs for IUP. Chelsey Kreinbrook had 26 assists and 15 digs, while Alyssa Prince posted nine digs and Morgan Cerveny tallied five blocks for the Crimson Hawks. IUP will host its final home action of the year Saturday against Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m. |
