Jessica Bodkin, a junior college transfer from Orange Coast College, has become the fifth newcomer to join the IUP volleyball program.

Bodkin, an outside hitter, joins freshmen Kelsey Rodgers, Sara Leighty, Laura McFadden and Morgan Cerveny as five new Crimson Hawks for the 2009 season.

Bodkin played one season at the University of Mobile in Alabama, helping the Rams reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. She then returned to her native California and played her sophomore year at Orange Coast.

There she played in 101 of a possible 103 games and ranked second on the team in kills with 230, third in blocks with 33 and added 97 digs.

Bodkin is a 2007 graduate of Newport Harbor High School where she played volleyball, basketball and track. She plans on majoring in international business at IUP.

"We are very enthusiastic about the signing of Jessica Bodkin," IUP head coach Zach Shaver said. "She brings two years of quality collegiate experience. Her height and attacking power will make her an immediate threat at the outside hitter position. She also brings a great personality and love of the game to our program."
