IUP lost to Arkansas-Monticello, 3-2, and to host St. Mary’s (Texas), 3-1,
to conclude play at the Texas Med Clinic/St. Mary’s Invitational.
The Crimson Hawks (0-4) rallied from two games down to tie
Arkansas-Monticello before dropping a 30-26, 30-20, 22-30, 25-30, 15-8
decision. Against St. Mary’s, the teams split the first two games before
the Aggies emerged with a 30-27, 22-30, 30-19, 30-25 victory.
Hristina Denic led IUP against Arkansas-Monticello with 14 kills and 12 digs
while adding a block. Maddie Schulte had 11 kills, and Tessa Siewert and
Tessa Irwin both had nine, with Siewert making two blocks and Irwin
delivering four service aces.
Chelsey Kreinbrook had 38 assists and 13 digs. Emily Pany led the Crimson
Hawks in digs with 20 while Kelsey Scheipe (11) and Krista Nordby (10) also
reached double figures.
Against St. Mary’s, Schulte had 17 kills and Siewert contributed 13. Denic
had nine kills and nine digs while Kreinbrook again had 38 assists. Pany
paced IUP in digs for the third straight match with 18.
IUP plays at Mercyhurst on Wednesday before hosting the Crimson Hawk/Best
Western Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Memorial Field House.
On Friday, IUP takes on
Adelphi at noon and Georgian Court at 7 p.m. The following day, the
Crimson Hawks face Salem International at noon at Pitt Johnstown at 7 p.m.
