IUP began play in the first-ever crossover tournament between the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the West Virginia Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference with a three-game sweep of Fairmont State.
The Crimson Hawks won their
fifth straight match to improve to 5-6 on the season with their 30-28,
30-27, 30-20 victory.
Tessa Siewert led IUP in
kills with 15, one more than Tessa Irwin. Both players had only two
attack errors, with Irwin hitting .480 and Siewert hitting .464.
Emily
McCombie (pictured) had 42 assists and was second on the team with nine
digs. McCombie also had two service aces. Emily Pany led IUP
with 12 digs.
Maddie Schulte contributed
eight kills and Hristina Denic had seven. Schulte and Pany joined
McCombie with a pair of aces, and Denic added two blocks.
On Saturday, IUP will take
on West Virginia Wesleyan at 11 a.m. and wrap up the tournament against
Seton Hill at 7:30.
