IUP junior libero Emily Pany has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region team for the 2009 season.

Pany is one of only two liberos selected to the 14-woman team. She led the PSAC and currently ranks sixth in the nation in digs per game with 5.78 and had a season-high 46 versus Clarion. Pany also recorded 44 digs in a win over Kutztown and 43 versus Ashland.

Her 693 digs this season is the third-highest figure in school history and her 703 in 2007 is second. Pany, who was on the All-PSAC West second team this year, is the IUP career leader in digs with 1,929 and digs per game with 5.13.

In addition to her dig totals, Pany had 16 service aces and 28 assists while playing in 32 of 33 matches during the 2009 campaign.

IUP finished with a record of 17-16 and was ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region at the end of year. However, the Crimson Hawks were denied a berth in the NCAA tournament since the final region spot went to the automatic qualifier from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
