INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP men's and women's swimming programs combined for 35 conference qualifying marks in a dual meet sweep of league rival Clarion Friday night at the Pidgeon Natatorium.
12 different Crimson Hawks had two qualifying times as the men defeated Clarion 176-85 and the women posted a 159-103 victory.
The men tallied 19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times, with eight different swimmers hitting multiple marks.
Among those with a pair of qualifying times were
Gerard Morato in the 1000 freestyle and 200 breaststroke,
Ryan Hartmann in the 100 and 200 freestyle,
RJ Hammond in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle,
Noah Brockway in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke,
Colter Long in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly,
Robert Jones in the 100 and 200 breaststroke,
Taylor Auger in the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke, and
Jackson Woolard in the 200 backstroke and 400 IM.
On the women's side, 12 swimmers combined for 16 PSAC qualifying times. All-American
Nicole Smith hit marks in the 200 and 500 freestyle, and was one of four to hit multiple marks. She was joined by
Rachel Johnson and
Paige McCullough in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and
Gabrielle Gironda in the 200 butterfly and 400 IM.
IUP finished the night with 20 victories in 28 total events. Among those with multiple individual victories included Auger in the 200 fly and 200 back, Smith in the 200 and 500 free, Johnson in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and
Paige Mikesell in the 100 fly and 100 free.
The men also had relay victories in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.
