The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1996 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions as student-athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors to the tradition of IUP athletics and, in doing so, have enhanced its image and reputation.
Through 2025, IUP has inducted 341 former student-athletes, coaches and administrators into the Hall of Fame. 23 sports are represented in the Hall of Fame, from cross country to football to fencing to boxing and gymnastics, not to mention former administration and athletic trainers who have contributed to a history of success at IUP.
The Class of 2025 represented the 30th year of the Hall of Fame.

HISTORY
Starting in 1994, talks began centering around the creation of an athletic Hall of Fame to honor the former athletes, coaches, administrators and all of those involved in IUP athletics who have made a difference over the years.Â
Dr. James Laughlin approached then-Sports Information Director Larry Judge to inquire about creating this Hall of Fame. Multiple meetings were held discussing issues including the criteria for becoming an eligible candidate; the amount of inductees to be selected; the placement of the Hall of Fame; and who would serve on the board of directors, those chosen to select which candidates would be inducted each year.
Â
In the fall of 1996, after countless meetings, the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame was finally established and an inaugural class of 17 was inducted, with two serving as the honorary Bell Ringers. Those inaugural inductees received plaques and that would be placed in the lobby of IUP’s Memorial Field House.
Â
Beginning in the spring of 2011, the Hall of Fame was moved the newly built Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC). A wall overlooking Ed Fry Arena and featuring former IUP student-athletes showcases each class, starting with the first 17 members. Also beginning in that year, the annual Hall of Fame Luncheon, which serves as the official induction ceremony, was moved to the KCAC.Â
